BPIF Joins as Association Partner for ‘A Manifesto for More Sustainable Print’

The British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF), the UK’s leading trade association representing the print, packaging and creative communications sectors, has joined A Manifesto for More Sustainable Print as an official Association Partner.

This collaborative manifesto – initiated by FuturePrint and developed in consultation with a cross-industry group of leaders and innovators – is designed to drive meaningful progress towards a more sustainable, circular and responsible print and manufacturing ecosystem. By joining as an Association Partner, the BPIF strengthens its commitment to supporting members through the transition to more sustainable business models, technologies and practices.

As the largest provider of apprenticeship training in the UK, with around 400 learners currently in role, BPIF is already playing a crucial role in developing the next generation of print professionals who will help drive the industry’s sustainable transformation.

The partnership will see BPIF play an active role in shaping the principles and actions that underpin the manifesto, while helping to extend its reach and impact across the wider UK print community. The manifesto provides a practical framework built around nine core principles to encourage real change throughout the print value chain.

Darren Shepherd, National Membership Development Director at BPIF, commented:

“Sustainability is no longer an optional ambition – it’s a fundamental part of how our industry must operate. The BPIF is proud to stand alongside FuturePrint and the wider group of partners in supporting A Manifesto for More Sustainable Print. This initiative brings together the shared knowledge and determination of the print community to help businesses take measurable action, share best practice and make sustainability central to their growth. It reflects our belief that collaboration and innovation are key to securing a positive, resilient future for UK print.”

The collaboration marks another important milestone in the development of the manifesto ahead of its full launch in December 2025. It also reinforces the BPIF’s long-standing leadership in promoting responsible practices across all facets of the print and packaging sectors – from training and certification to energy management, health and safety, and business improvement.

Marcus Timson, Co-Founder of FuturePrint, added: “We are thrilled to welcome the BPIF as an Association Partner. The organisation’s credibility, reach and commitment to supporting sustainable progress across the industry make it an invaluable collaborator. Together, we can amplify the momentum behind this initiative and help accelerate the transformation of print into a model for sustainable, circular manufacturing.”
