Domino's Label Event 2026: Digital, Data and What's Coming Next
A fantastic day at Domino Printing UK's Driving Digital in Label Printing event, and exactly the kind of conversation the label industry needs to be having right now.
From rising material costs to staffing pressures, sustainability demands to the looming 2D code transition, the challenges facing converters are real. But so is the technology and thinking available to meet them.
Highlights from the day included:
Camilla Young, GS1 UK delivered a compelling and clear-eyed look at the barcode-to-QR code transition. Tesco are already scanning them in store. Regulation is accelerating the timeline. And for label printers, variable data capability is moving from optional to essential. Full write-up here.
Live demos of the N410 & K300 showed exactly why Domino's digital label presses have become the go-to for converters serious about quality, speed, and flexibility.
Rob Lorkins, MD at Labelnet, joined FuturePrint's Frazer Chesterman for an honest, unvarnished Q&A on Labelnet's journey from flexo to digital, what drove the decision, what changed, and where the opportunity now lies.
A strong closing panel finished the day, with Lee Metters (Domino), Camilla Young (GS1 UK), Leigh Mann (Label Solutions), and Chris Spooner (Hybrid Software) tackling the big questions facing the label industry. The themes that stood out the most for the industry were ones that will resonate across the converter community: packaging and recycling regulations, sustainability, rising costs, staffing and retention, and, perhaps most of all, materials.

And the good news? This won't be a one-off. Domino have confirmed this will be an annual event, and on this evidence, it's already one to put in the diary.
Thank you to the whole Domino team for a brilliantly run event.
