Webinar: The basics of plasma pretreatment with TIGRES

Why does an ink, coating or adhesive hold well on one surface and fail on another? Very often the answer is surface preparation, and plasma pretreatment is one of the most effective tools for getting it right.

We're pleased to share details on a free webinar series from our partner TIGRES, a specialist in plasma pretreatment systems. It's the first session in their new PlasmaXperience series. This opening session goes back to the fundamentals: the mechanisms behind good adhesion, how plasma influences them, and what to consider to get the best results from atmospheric pressure plasma.

Webinar details
Thursday, 22 October 2026
15:00 CEST
Approx. 45–60 minutes, including a live Q&A
Language: English

A German-language session also takes place on Tuesday, 20 October 2026 at 15:00.

What you'll learn

  1. What plasma actually is

  2. The theory of adhesion

  3. Pretreatment and wettability

  4. How to optimise plasma treatment

  5. Pretreating metal and glass

  6. The cleaning effects of plasma

  7. How long a pretreatment lasts

  8. An overview of treatable materials

  9. Further reading and upcoming events

The session also covers what surface energy can and can't tell you, and which process parameters really matter.

Who should attend?
Anyone who wants to understand the basics of plasma pretreatment and get a solid overview of the topic. It's a valuable session for anyone working in industrial and functional print, where adhesion to challenging substrates like polymers is a constant challenge. No prior knowledge needed.

The hosts
Peter van Steenacker is a trained electronics engineer and has worked in plasma pretreatment since 1998. He has extensive experience with atmospheric pressure plasma, low-pressure plasma and DBD applications for 2D and 3D parts, and has led TIGRES PlasmaXperience since 2021.

He's joined by Berrin Küzün, Head of Process Engineering at TIGRES. She is a graduate engineer specialising in surface technology and has worked in plasma since 2009.

Questions?
Send them in advance to Tigres, or ask live during the webinar.

Meet TIGRES in person - TIGRES will also be at the IPI Conference 2026, 24–25 November. It's a great opportunity to continue the conversation face to face.
